Well, I am back from Atlanta! I had a blast and cannot wait to go back in September. I have been back for about a week now and I have been busy getting the house back in order and making sure Papa has been okay. He had a little bit of a scare while I was gone.
As I have mentioned before, Papa has congestive heart failure. Well, it has been catching up to him as of lately and one of the symptoms of it is shortness of breath. Apparently, while on a visit with his "lady friend" he became very winded and could not seem to breathe. So, she drove him home and his brother-in-law made sure to check up on him several times that night. So he seemed fine after that.
WELL, on Friday, my step-mother and I were going to volunteer to raise money for the Berea High prom at the zoo. I pulled up to the house at 4:30 with Papa and got out of the car. I waited for him as he caught his breath ( he gets winded just from getting out of the car). I asked him if he was okay and he nodded his head and said yes. The next thing I know he was swaying from side to side and he sunk down and fell backwards onto the concrete. He had just fainted in front of me!!! I thought he was having a heart attack. I ran into the garage and screamed for my step mom. Luckily she was in the kitchen and came running out right away and called 911. I went to Papa and and he was lying face up with his eyes open staring at the sky. I thought he was dead! But then he looked at me and I asked him if he was okay. He looked at me strangely and said "I'm sleeping." My step mom and I both kind of snickered because we were glad he was alert and speaking but he had no idea that he had just passed out. He realized he was on the concrete he then asked "What am I doing down here?" He was trying to get up but we would not let him. I ran inside and got a pillow and his blood pressure machine. He had scraped his head on the ground and was bleeding a little bit but I don't think he hit it too hard. By that time, the ambulance had come and they were evaluating him. They decided it was best to bring hikm in because he does have a pace maker/difibrillator. Laurie (my step mom) followed the ambulance and I went ahead and told my sisters what had happened. They had been home the whole time and had no idea what had happened!
Laurie texted me for the next couple of hours and kept me updated on what the doctors were saying. At first, they though it was his pace maker that was not working correctly but they then determined that wasn't the cause. So they decided to keep him overnight to run tests. At that point, I went over to the hospital to see him and he was alert and cracking jokes. I knew he would be okay for the most part. The next morning, he was discharged after saying there was no obvious reason for his fainting. So, just to be on the safe side we are staying in Berea for the next week.
Soooo that was my weekend in a nut shell. Pretty exciting! :-0
